The Mustang 10U™ League is where young athletes begin to experience the excitement of real baseball and softball — complete with scaled-down fields, age-appropriate rules, and the chance to make plays just like their favorite Major Leaguers.
Designed for players ages 7–10, this division introduces advanced fundamentals, teamwork, and strategy in a fun and encouraging environment that helps players grow in both skill and confidence.
At this level, kids begin to play “true baseball and softball” — stealing bases, turning double plays, and learning the finer details of the game — all while continuing to build friendships and sportsmanship that last long after the final out.

PONY Baseball and Softball believes that instead of changing the rules of the game for younger players, it’s better to adjust the field dimensions to fit their physical abilities.
By scaling down the bases and pitching distances, players can fully experience the thrill of making plays that mirror what they see on TV — double plays, force outs, and even squeeze plays. Every child gets to play in proportionate positions that make sense for their age and skill level, keeping the game both realistic and exciting.
Learning the Major League Way
Starting with the Mustang 10U™ League, players follow The Official Rules of Major League Baseball, with specific PONY modifications that make the game developmentally appropriate.
This means players get to experience the structure and strategy of real baseball — learning pitching, fielding rotations, and game management — in a way that’s safe, age-appropriate, and rewarding.
For softball, players follow the PONY Girls Softball Rulebook, offering the same balance of skill-building and fun.
